The innermost central areas of the Barbagia region are also typified by the “Bosana” strand cultivation, and lesser amounts of “Nera di Oliena” variety also known as “Ogliastrina”. The olive oils produced in this area show an intense fruity character with bitter piquant taste and overall herbaceous notes.
The areas around the city of Oristano – found south of the central western coast – possess a strong olive tradition, with a concentrated production in the coastal hilly area of Montiferru. The strands found here are mainly “Bosana” and “Semidana” producing oils with intense fruity green olive aroma, slightly bitter taste and overall herbaceous hints.
